Attention nookers!

We’re shifting nook to a bigger server this Friday 17th between 6 and 9 pm - and this means there’ll be a 15 minute block where nook won’t be around.

Rest assured, it’ll be right back up - but if you go to nook and you don’t see anything, wait a couple couple of minutes and  we’ll appear again.

If you’re going to write during this period, can we suggest you write your post in a program such as Word or Notepad, then paste it into nook to publish.  This will ensure that your don’t lose anything when the nook shift happens.

More bits needed

Just a little reminder to help stir up some art action ahead of the Friday 20 July deadline.

It may be human nature to leave things to the last minutes: but so far we have only two candidates flagging their intent as to what they will provide as art for the exhibition.

  • theshadow “will submit five A3/A5″ photographs
  • Lady Chaos has a shortlist of similar sized photos and poem

We would love to hear some details from the rest of you. (It’ll help us with planning wall and/or floor space).

Show off your best bits

The inaugural nook art exhibition first — dreamed up by The Shadow and mapped out among some nook diehards – is coming to fruition and coming to Leader’s Blackburn office. Pencil August 14 into your diary now for this invitiation-only event.

Come along, see some art, meet some fellow nookers and hear about some upcoming features we’ll be launching soon.

Of course, for this exhibition to work, we’re going to need your best bits of art, so we’re calling for expressions of interest. Send an email to the admin team by Friday July 20.  You’ll need to attach a photo of the art you want to show, along with the dimensions of each piece you wish to put on display.

Numbers are limited. So be sure to email early if you are interested in exhibiting your works.

Inclusion as a guest or exhibitor at the star event will be by invitation-only. (News on how to register as a guest will be posted at nook in the next few weeks).

[The following added 1:45pm, 4 July 2007]

The fine print: Leader Newspapers is calling for expressions of interest from nook artists to submit their work for consideration in the exhibition. To be eligible for consideration, applicants must send an expression of interest to LDRnook.admin@leadernewspapers.com.au and include their name and contact details, a photo of the artwork and its dimensions. Artwork chosen for the exhibition is at the sole discretion of Leader Newspapers or its nominate representatives.

Re-draw time for an iPod

Winners from our incredibly popular “win an iPod” contest at nook’s launch have three months in which to claim their prize. Most nooksters scooped up their booty within days of being notified. To date, two unclaimed prizes are kicking around in the prize cupboard.

The three month deadline on round 1 came to a close last week - and a fresh winner has been notified today (via email) of their success.

Please join me in welcoming Vivavoca to the winners’ circle.

The original winner of the other iPod has until May 23 to stake a claim on that prize. If they don’t step forward, then it too will be the subject of a redraw.

Is this spam or a cry for help?

The moderators today have seen one anonymous item repeatedly posted as a reply to many and varied spots throughout nook. That one question is as follows:

”Please, give me contact address (email or msn) of this site administrator… Thanks!”

We’ve approved and replied the first few times this appeared in the queue. But as the day progressed, we’ve seen the same question pop up again and again.

Rather than frustrate other nooksters by approving multiple listings of this same item, we are trashing them.

If there is an un-named person trying desperately to find an answer to this question, then check the details listed in the “contact us” link at the bottom of the nook home page.

Email can be directed to nook.admin@ldr.newsltd.com.au (or just leave a comment here at this blog entry). Either way, a moderator will see it.

Four iPod nanos still need a home

Winners have stepped forward to claim 16 of the 20 iPod nanos from our prize pool; but the hunt is on for four nook members who have yet to claim their booty.

As per the terms and conditions, any unclaimed prize draw will take place three months after the original draw. So there is still a chance that other names might eventually be added to the winners’ list.

  • Scarface21 (a winner from Draw 1) has until midnight Wednesday May 2. If unclaimed, a fresh draw for that iPod nano will occur Thursday, May 3. [Update: this prize is now the subject of a re-draw].

All five prizes for Draw 2 have been collected.

  • Justgezza (from Draw 3) has until midnight Wednesday May 16 to avoid having their unclaimed nano put into a draw on Thursday. May 17. [Update: prize claimed within deadline].
  • And two winners from Draw 4 – booger and tarielle – need to put on their skates. If their prizes remain unclaimed, a redraw will occur Thursday May 24. [Update: booger has claimed the prize within the three month deadline].

Drop us a line if you are one of these four people.  (And the rest of you; keep your fingers crossed. An unclaim prize might eventually be winging its way to you).

The wait is over

Here are the final five names for our famous “win an iPod nano” competition. Thank you all for playing.

Any unclaimed prizes will be redrawn in three months (as per the terms and conditions).

Competition closes soon

We are on the countdown to the last in our series of four big draws for iPod nanos.

Draw 4 closed midnight February 21, 2007, for the profile pictures of five nook members picked at random.

For help in getting that smug mugshot or iconic image into position, check here.

Who won for asking a question?

Five more winners will be listening to tunes on their iPod nanos shortly; just for asking a question. Now how easy was that?

There is one draw remaining. Upload an image to your profile to be in the running. See here for details.
