20 iPod nanos up for grabs

The nook Admin team will be unveiling a competition through the pages of Leader newspapers next week - but we thought you might like hearing about it first here. [Ed’s note (added later): this happened Monday, January 22].
Just a few minutes invested in submitting items at nook.com.au will put an iPod nano in the hands of 20 lucky nookatics.
Five nanos will be given away each week to random nook members who have posted an entry, made a comment, posed a question, or uploaded an avatar (profile picture) at nook.com.au
Our competition starts with posts and is open to all existing and new members* at nook. Blog before midnight January 31 [2007] and you are automatically in the running for draw 1. We couldn’t make it any easier than that!
And to make an early start on being eligible for the following weekly draws, simply post a comment on another nook member’s post, pose a question, and/or upload a picture to your profile.
- Draw 2 closes midnight February 7 [2007] – for a comment picked a random.
- Draw 3 closed midnight February 14 [2007] – for a question picked at random.
- Draw 4 closed midnight February 21 [2007] – for a profile picture picked at random.
So nook-meisters, get active. The more you post the better your chances of winning.

The Burnley Tollway Tunnel was closed last week because an over-height truck ripped all the roof lights and signs away, and spread dangerous debris all over the road.
Surely an accurate height sensor could predict when this was to happen, and reduce the speed limit to Zero for the particular lane the truck is in.
Such sensors must cost less than the $150,000 that repairs were reported to cost, plus the Tunnel closure time would be minimized.
Telephone books (2 volumes of yellow pages) have just been delivered.
Why cannot the printer print A-K (plus L-Z) on the top, bottom and side of each volume, this would make it easier for the user to pick the correct volume.
To do this, each page would need an additional 3 small stripes to the edge of the page, strategically placed, thus forming the letters A-K (plus L-Z) on the edges of the phone books.

l just had a baby girl 7months ago and like most women put on the kilos.. but with the help of good healthy eating and finally finding a work out that works and fits into my busy life and does not take up to much of my time l have lost 10kg since l had the little one….. Well you are wondering what it is? it’s called pilates weight-loss workout for dummies it’s a works out that only takes 40min you start of with standing exercisers than on the mat, l am not a big fan a exercise but this l have to tell you really works……

The Ipod Competition is definitely a good idea to get people interested in Nook…I’ve never even heard of this before! Would love an ipod…I’m always using my cousin’s and 2gb ipod would be great for storing information for university work!!!
As for Australia day, maybe use a multicultralism theme? Get colleagues with different backgrounds to bring food in at work, this will highlight the variety of cultures in Australia..and it’s fun too! WEstern food..indian food..oriental..cajun..etc!

Hi all, Just a comment on a new road being built on Mickleham Rd Greenvale. What a disgrace Vic Roads for approving this project. This two lane road looks more like a rollercoaster ride and is a potential disaster once it opens. If your ever in the area check it out!

I was just curious as to why the Bacchus Marsh train station tickets are not MET yet? It is still classed otherwise and i think that if melton to melbourne can be MET, then why not the Marsh and Ballarat…. we are wasting money buying the equialence of two tickets, when others can get way with a MET all day pass. It seems fair to make all stations MET.

Hey everyone i know this is going to sound really weird and deppressing here it goes.
I just want to know why do all the good people die before the bad people, like i just lost my family friend about a week a go in a car accident near the anglican church near the pines.
Its not fare i mean why did a 20 year olds life end when there is osama bin laden still living. And i know and ipod nano sounds good but in a way it cant bring my family friend back it just makes me realise that know one is invinsible. I know he is in heaven smilling down watching us while we pray for him and till the day we meet again in my heart is where he will always be.

I seem to think it is not what you post that matters. Just how many times your name comes up. I think that if that is the case I want be a nook to long. As i did not just come for the prize I came because it was an Australian site. But it seems this place is not taken to seriously.

Don’t hold on to the death, remember the person you knew, the happy times you shared.
In your life you will meet alot of people and you will more than likely know of many that die. What is important is keeping their memory alive. Talk about them and share who they were with others that knew them. Because I think a person only really dies when people forget they were here. Talk about them and let them remind you that you are still here to keep them going for many years after they parted.

Re: answer to your bush fire question.
my theory is that some of the trees are actually still burning inside like there are still some embers alight inside the trees, so then when it gets hot again, the fires start up again in some of the trees ’cause the fire has not completely gone out.
it’s sad about the bush fires, the homes, people, wildlife animals, trees and the environment. the fire fighters are doing a really great job. there has been so many bush fires.
last week the Herald Sun had a photo of koalas with their paws bandaged on the front cover. they got burnt by the bush fires and can’t climb trees and are being nursed back to health. poor little things!

as a 15 year old, i think more people in greensborough should use more water saving devices for the benefit of our future. example, in my house my dad has installed a drainage hose to the drain and showers to keep our plants alive, therefore we don’t use our drinking water to water plants. i believe more families should save water.

After reading some of the comments above I think people should be made to ask a question to win an ipod, not just make comments. As you can see from above there is alot of rubbish. yeh, na, ok , good on ya etc:That’s not what I enjoy reading. I may as well sit and listen to my teenage son and his friends at least they converse with content.Also maybe you (Admin) could have a competition for the best answer. I have had some great replies to my serious questions. This would encourage some good healthy debating. Or the quote of the day, the list is endless. I don’t think making a comment such as” yeah” should win anyone an ipod. I was under the impression you had to ask a question to win an ipod was I wrong? What do others think? Do you agree or think I’m being a bit over the top?
